On 9/4/17 I was honored to be a guest speaker on Transforming Trauma, a podcast dedicated as a safe space for survivors of childhood sexual abuse to receive support, resources, and share their stories.
Play Excerpts and Interview of Donna
The play, What She Knows: One Woman’s Way Through Incest to Joy, depicts a full range of what it is like to grow up in a sexually abusive family; what one woman experienced and then did to reclaim her life and make it worth living. Witness the main character figuratively (and once literally) dancing between her life’s joys and traumas, between time periods and experiences showing how she survived and ultimately came to thrive. The original score, composed and performed by master guitarist John Sheldon, provides live music that weaves a heightened impact into the play’s dramatic tempo and opens audiences to the full richness of its sadness’ and delights.

“It has affected me to the point where I am speechless, but in a good way. I liked it when [she] danced to Elvis. I also really liked the guitar. [Tell her to] Keep doing the good work [she is] doing.” - HV, age 18
“[She] made me feel better about disclosing to my (therapy) group because if [she] can have the courage to speak in front of hundreds of people, then I can do it in front of my small group.” -BF, age 16
